Bio

Dr. Sashikala Maruthai Pillai is a Senior Research Officer at the Malaysian Agricultural Research and Development Institute (MARDI) with over 20 years of experience in agricultural waste management and environmental science. Her expertise focuses on odour and air quality assessment, particularly emissions characterisation using GC-MS/O and olfactometry techniques. She works on biomass degradation, composting technologies, biogas production, and sustainable agro-waste valorisation for soil and environmental improvement. She has led and collaborated on numerous national and international research and consultancy projects supporting environmental standards and waste management policies. She holds a PhD in Civil and Environmental Engineering from the University of New South Wales and has contributed widely to research publications and capacity building.
