Michael Assal The Odour Unit

Michael Assal is Operations Manager at TOU and a leading expert in odour regulation, science, and engineering. A qualified Chemical and Environmental Engineer and Mathematician, he brings over 20 years of experience delivering practical, engineering-based solutions for odour management across diverse industries. Michael has designed, audited, optimised, upgraded, and commissioned odour control systems for more than 40 rendering facilities in Australia and New Zealand. He is Chair of the Odour Special Interest Group of the Clean Air Society of Australia and New Zealand (CASANZ) and the International Water Association (IWA), and is widely recognised for his solution-focused approach to complex odour challenges.
